Blackjack Angus Sale 2019
Blackjack Oaks Ranch is a small ranch located slightly north and west of Houston in Washington, Texas between Brenham and Navasota. The ranch is owned by Allen and Karen Ginnard, who are both retired from the international energy industry. Our goal at Blackjack Oaks ranch is to improve Santa Gertrudis cattle through selective breeding. Although small, we’re dedicated breeders who enjoy the excellent genetics, hardiness, gentle dispositions, and beautiful red color of these cattle. At Blackjack Oaks Ranch, we buy good cattle and breed good cattle through both natural service and select artificial insemination.

In addition to breeding the best stock we can, the Blackjack Oaks Ranch program also includes giving back to this genetically promising breed of cattle. Allen has served as Treasurer on the Mid-Coast Santa Gertrudis Association Board of Directors for the last five years and has helped with the youth program, and Karen served as editor of the Cattle Rattle newsletter for the Mid-Coast Santa Gertrudis Association for three years, recently giving up the role to focus on family and home.
Blackjack Oaks Ranch was recognized in 2017 for donating Legacy Lot #1 to benefit the National Santa Gertrudis Foundation for Santa Gertrudis Breeders International, and received the Mid-Coast Santa Gertrudis Association Breeder of the Year award for 2018. We strive to breed good cattle while keeping our prices reasonable. We keep our herd small and our costs down by not participating in cloning and other high-tech methods of cattle production. We keep it simple, passing on the cost savings in the market. We were proud to have the high-selling bull at the Mid-Coast Santa Gertrudis Cattleman’s Opportunity Sale in May 2019, which served as recognition of the quality of our breeding program. We also added a NuGen cow in our herd in 2017, a welcome addition and a beautiful cow.
2019 BLACKJACK FARMS AND GUESTS; Reg: 19518789 - See EPD Update. Pfeiffer Angus Farms. They sell bred safe in calf to a low birth weight.
Our passions are family, faith, ranching, and Texas natural resource conservation. We’re proud of our Texas ranching heritage, and proud to be involved with the Santa Gertrudis breed of cattle. We’d love to talk cattle with you.
