EVERETT, MA — Encore Boston Harbor will reopen Sunday, July 12 at 9 a.m., pending approval from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, the casino announced Friday. It will open as part of Phase 3 of the state's reopening plan, which begins Monday.

In addition to implementing its own Health and Safety Plan, the casino will abide by directives set forth by the Gaming Commission. Several measures such as social distancing, touchless technologies and cleaning protocols have been implemented across the resort.

This includes:

  • Non-invasive thermal temperature scans at all guest and employee entrances (no guest or employee with a temperature of 100.4 or more will be allowed in the resort)
  • Mandatory face coverings for all employees and guests, with complimentary face coverings available for guests
  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of guest areas throughout the day
  • Multiple hand sanitizer stations and disinfecting wipes available throughout the resort
  • Appropriate and comfortable physical distancing in all gaming and dining areas

Casino officials said Monday they expect to reopen the gaming area and food and beverage outlets around the casino. The hotel will operate on a limited basis.

After furloughing about 10 percent of its full-time workforce at the start of June, the casino plans to furlough another 3,000 workers, head of Public Affairs Eric Kraus told The Boston Globe. Some employees working in the reopened amenities and restaurants will return to work, while those who work in areas for which a reopening date is uncertain will be furloughed.
